  • 65 fighters from the pro-government Suquor al-Badia were killed around the Sha’er Oilfield in the eastern countryside of Homs province. It isn’t clear whether they were killed directly by fighting with the Islamic State, or if they were accidentally targeted by an airstrike.

  • Government forces have forced the IS to pull back to the outskirts of the Sha’er Oilfield.

  • The number of guards, employees, and soldiers that were killed when the IS took the Sha’er Oilfield has been raised to 270.
        • Many of the people were executed after the IS had already captured the field. 40 IS fighters were killed during the assault, and 30 people managed to escape from the field to the nearby Hajjar field.

  • 17 rebels, including fighters from Jabhat al-Nusra and Jabhat al-Akrad, were killed while fighting the IS around the town of Ikhtren in Aleppo.

  • 5 civilians were killed by a barrel bomb in al-Atareb in Aleppo.

  • Yesterday a statement was signed by the al-Ansar Brigades, the al-Haq Front. the Syria Revolutionaries Front, the Hazzm Movement, the Fursan al-Haq Brigade, Division 13, Division 101, and Suquor al-Jabal which announced that they will cease any cooperation and coordination with Jabhat al-Nusra.

  • Fighting between the IS and government forces on the outskirts of Ayyash, which lies about 12 kilometers north of Deir Ez Zor city, killed 12 soldiers and an unknown number of IS fighters, forcing the government to withdraw.

  • The IS killed 24 men that it had arrested in the Konico gas field in Deir Ez Zor.

  • The government recaptured the villages of Ayash and Ain al-Bou Jimaa in the Deir Ez Zor countryside.

  • Rebels in Daraa province have begun a new offensive called Qat’e Al Watin (cutting the aorta), although due to a self-imposed media blackout it is not yet clear what the targets of the offensive are.
        • 13 Islamic rebels were killed fighting government forces in the Daraa countryside. Government forces lost 1 tank and an unknown number of casualties.

  • A reported 100 government soldiers have been killed and 15 captured by rebels during the government’s offensive to capture Morek in Hama province. Rebels still fully control the city, although the government has managed to penetrate their lines on several occasions.
        • The government is attempting to re-open the Hama-Idlib highway that Morek lies on, and relieve their forces south of Maarat al-Nu’man.
        • The rebel forces who have fought in the battle include the Islamic Front, Jabhat al-Nusra, Harakat Hazm, FSA Divisions 13 and 101, Filaq al-Sham, and the Syrian Revolutionaries Front. Division 13, 101, and the Hazm movement are all equipped with US-made TOW missiles.

  • 5 people, including a woman and a child, were killed in Allatamne in the countryside of Hama city by airstrikes.


  • Fighting between Harakat Hazm and Ahrar al-Sham has broken out in Idlib province. The fighting started at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing after Ahrar al-Sham attempted to force a Hazm car to pay a toll in order to pass through the crossing. Hazm also wants to jointly operate the crossing. Several people from both sides were injured in a resulting fight, and the Hazm fighters were forced to hand over their weapons. Hazm has now set up a checkpoint on the road linking al-Atareb and Bab al-Hawa in order to arrest Ahrar fighters. The Sharia committee is attempting to solve the dispute. 


  • Since the beginning of Ramadan, the IS has been giving 2,000 Syrian pounds, or around 12$, to anybody who pledges loyalty to them. The IS stamps the person’s ID card once they pledge loyalty, leading many people who need to travel to areas not under IS control to have to refuse the stamp and money.

  • SANA reported that over Friday and Saturday the UN was allowed to distribute 1,083 food baskets in the Yarmouk Refugee Camp in Damascus, which houses 18,000 people and has been under government siege for a year. SANA also said 22 people were evacuated to hospitals as well.

  • 1 civilian was killed and 14 were injured in Damascus by mortars that hit the al-Zablatani neighborhood.

  • Lebanon arrested 2 people in response to a video they posted where they encouraged a 2 year-old boy named Abbas to repeatedly hit a 9-year old Syrian child with his fists and a stick in his face and body. Throughout the video they also order the Syrian child to remain still as he tries to shield himself. The boy’s father and cousin were arrested.

  • Assad re-appointed Najah al-Attar, an 81 year-old woman who was first given the position in 2006, as his vice-president.
