I am currently seeking employment, so I should be back around April 1st
- The International Syria Support Group, which is made of 17 countries including the US, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other countries from Europe and the Middle East, reached a deal in Munich which calls for a temporary “cessation of hostilities” in a week, the resumption of the Geneva peace talks later this month, and the delivery of aid to besieged areas :
- Rebels will be meeting over the next few days to decide whether to agree to the deal.
- The cessation of hostilities does not include the Islamic State, Jabhat al-Nusra, or “other groups designated as terrorist organisations by the United Nations security council”, and whether other rebels or the government will actually go along with it seems very much up in the air.
- This is also a big loophole since Russia has deemed essentially every group as terrorist organizations.

- Issam al-Reis, a spokesman for the Southern Front of the FSA, said “We greet this announcement with tentative optimism”, but also said“However, we are skeptical that Russia will hold to these commitments when its current policy is to indiscriminately bomb all parties in Syria into the dust, in particular civilians and moderate opposition, and with complete impunity, while saying they are bombing terrorists.”
- Peter Ford, the UK’s former ambassador to Syria, said about rebels who cooperate with JaN: “They are going to get hit if they continue to work alongside al-Nusra in the designated areas. So Russia is being quite clever. Their game is to try to split the so-called moderates away from al-Nusra, so that the Syrian army, which suffers from depleted manpower, can tackle al-Nusra.”
