• The Syrian Network for Human Rights and the Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights released a joint report saying that since the beginning of the war the Syrian government has executed 82 people by burning them alive: http://sn4hr.org/public_html/wp-content/pdf/arabic/Executions_by_burning_AR.pdf

    • The Pentagon said that the US has identified around 1,200 fighters for their planned program which will train and equip vetted rebels to fight the Islamic State.
      • The program plans to begin in March and will train around 5,000 fighters per year.
      • The program has met resistance from many groups who do not want to be recruited to fight the IS at the expense of stopping their fight against President Assad, who is viewed as being equally as brutal as the IS and as allowing the IS to grow in order to turn international attention away from himself.
      • Training will likely take place in Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

    • Jabhat al-Nusra has asked the Levant Front to withdraw it’s protection of Harakat Hazm if Hazm does not release JaN prisoners.
      • Hazm recently joined the coalition after clashes with JaN broke out in Aleppo.
