• The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that it has documented nearly 300,000 deaths since 3/18/2011.
    • 63,000 of the dead are civilians, including nearly 10,400 children and 6,600 women.
    • 44,200 soldiers have died.
    • 37,000 Syrian rebels have died, along with 22,600 foreign fighters.
    • Nearly 29,000 pro-government Syrian militia fighters have died.
    • Nearly 2,400 foreign pro-government militia fighters have died.
    • 624 Hezbollah fighters have died.
    • 3,100 of the documented dead have not been identified.
    • The SOHR said the numbers do not include:
      • The 20,000 people held in government prisons.
      • The thouands of people who have dissapeared during government raids and massacres.
      • The 2,000 soldiers, pro-government supporters, and pro-government militia fighters who have been captured or kidnapped by rebels.
      • 1,500 rebels, YPG fighters, and Islamic State fighters who have been captured by eachother.
      • 4,000 fighters and civilians from the Sheitat Tribe who have been taken by the IS.
    • The SOHR said that it believes the actual number of foreign fighters on all sides who have been killed is 80,000 more than what has been documented due to the extreme secrecy that the groups have about these figures.

  • On Saturday Jabhat al-Nusra has detained Hassan Ashtara, an FSA commander, on charges of corruption in al-Rastan in Homs.
    • He has been a commander in al-Rastan since 2012.

    • It’s difficult to know how much the IS has actually progressed, these are the areas I’ve seen reported as captured by a wide range of sources. Until now the IS had been pushed mostly out of Saqer Island and the government was trying to encircle it within the city. The areas that were reported to be hit by airstrikes would indicate that the IS has progressed in the fighting though.
