  • Abu Baqr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State, ordered that the members of the Sheitat Tribe be allowed back to their homes in Deir Ez Zor.
    • The tribe briefly revolted against the IS over the summer, before being brutally put down and expelled. At least 100 fighters and 600 civilians were beheaded, and around 1,800 remain missing. The tribe has around 70,000 members.
    • The members have to declare that the individuals who fought the IS are apostates, will not be allowed to carry weapons, hold meetings, and for the first 2 months will have a curfew between 8 PM and 5 AM.
