  • Rebels claimed that there was a chemical weapon attack on Adra in Rif Dimashq that killed 7 people.

  • Jabhat al-Nusra fighters said that they have evacuated their bases in populated areas of northern Idlib.
    • Yesterday, coalition airstrikes against JaN in Kafr Deryan killed 14 civilians and 10 fighters. 5 women and 8 children were among those killed.
    • The strikes against JaN, which were mostly Tomahawk cruise missiles, were apparently targeting the Khorasan, a group of al-Qaeda members whose mission was to plan external attacks against the west.
    • JaN is al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, so the Khorasan group is likely attatched to JaN, even if it plays a different role.
    • US officials said today that the Khorasan group was the decisive factor for the airstrikes that began yesterday, not the Islamic State.

  • There were reports of a cruise missile strike in a Jabhat al-Nusra position in Harem in Idlib.

  • Ahrar al-Sham has begun evacuating its bases in Idlib out of fear that it will be targeted by airstrikes.

  • Reuters reported that the US had informed Iran in advance of the coalition airstrikes in Syria, and had assured them that the strikes would not be targeting the Syrian military.
    • Iran had brought up concerns that the attacks would not be limited to just the Islamic State.
    • The US State Department said that they had informed Iran of their intentions, but not the date and time that the strikes were planned for.

  • The Islamic State is reportedly attempting to identify members of the Saudi Arabian air force who participated in the coalition airstrikes yesterday, after Saudi Arabia published a few photos of the pilots. Some who have been identified have received death threats.

  • CNN report on Major Mariyam al-Mansouri, the United Arab Emirates first female pilot, who also participated in the airstrikes in Syria.

  • A video by Jund al-Aqsa showing moments of the Badr al-Sham offensive in Hama. A recent government counteroffensive has reverses many of the gains rebels had made.


  • There were reports that rebels, led by Jabhat al-Nusra, advanced against government forces during fighting in Morek in Hama.

  • Government forces re-captured al-Zalaqiat from rebels in Hama. Yesterday rebels had captured it for the third time in the recent fighting.
  • Jaish al-Mujahideen issued a statement criticizing the coalition airstrikes for attempting to put “an end to the rebellion”.

  • FSA brigades signed a statement calling for the coalition airstrikes to target government positions along with IS positions. It said that the Assad government deliberately targets civilians, and that striking the IS but not the government will allow the military to strengthen its attacks and increase civilian suffering.
    • The groups that signed are Hrakat Hazm, the al-Ansar Brigades,, the al-Haq Brigades, the Fifth CorpsJabhat al-Asala Waltanmya, the alEzza Group, the Fighting Haq Front, and the Suqour al-Ghab Brigades.
    • A number of FSA groups and other rebel groups voiced similar criticisms yesterday, while others supported the strikes.
