I’ve had to do a pretty rushed post today, so forgive me for typos and crap like that that are probably in this post

 

  • Fighting between government forces and rebels occurred around the al-Manshiyah neighborhood of Daraa.

  • 2 people were killed by airstrikes on Deir al-Addas in Daraa, which rebels captured a couple of days ago from the military.

  • Islamic State fighters were killed by government forces in fighting around the Kwaires Airport in Aleppo.

  • Fighting between the Islamic State and the YPG has continued around Kobani, with the IS capturing 3 villages. In the last 3 days the IS has captured around 60 villages in all around the city, including all of the YPG’s positions along the Euphrates river.
    • The IS has brought in a large amount of tanks, heavy artillery, and armored vehicles, many of which are US-made and were captured from the Iraqi army.

    • Casualties have been thrown around by both sides, and are hard to estimate. In some specific instances:
      • 13 IS fighters and 5 YPG fighters were killed during a clash in which the YPG also destroyed a US-made Humvee that the IS was using.
      • 18 IS fighters were killed when 5 APCs were destroyed by the YPG.
    • The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the IS has executed at least 11 Kurdish civilians in the area around Kobani, including 2 children.
    • A large number of Kurds from Turkey have come over the border to help the YPG in the fighting.
    • IS supporters said that around 180 IS prisoners held by Turkey were released and transported to the border around Kobani.
    • Airstrikes were reported south of Kobani on the IS-held Qarah Qawzaq bridge.
    • The YPG apparenlty captured at least 2 villages east of Kobani towards Tal Abyad.

  • Around 60,000 refugees from the area around Kobani have crossed into Turkey through 8 border points since yesterday. They were initially denied entry, but the Turkish government relented yesterday afternoon.

  • The Islamic State executed 2 people in the city of Manbij in Aleppo, one of them on charges of apostasy, and one on charges of dealing with the Awakenings.

  • 5 people, including a woman and a child, were killed by barrel bombs dropped on the highway between Hanano and al-Sakhur in neighborhoods of Aleppo
  • The Syrian National Coalition has condemned the airstrike on a bakery in al-Bab in Aleppo, which killed 51 people and wounded 80.

  • The FSA was reported to have advanced against the Islamic State in fighting around Mare’a in Aleppo.

  • 40 Turkish hostages who have been held by the Islamic State were released. They were origionally captured when the IS over-ran Mosul in June.
    • The safety of the hostages has been a main factor in why Turkey has said it is reluctant to pursue action against the IS.
    • The hostages included consulate staff, children, and special forces police.

  • 1 woman was killed and 7 people were injured by mortar shells that fell on government-controlled neighborhoods of Damascus.

  • 13 airstrikes have been carried out on Arda and Tal Kerdi in Rif Dimashq.
    • At least 2 rebels died in fighting with government forces in Adra.
    • The SAA is attempting to open up another front in Adra to help in the fight against rebels in Eastern Ghouta.

  • Rebels announced that 1 million Syrian Pounds will be given for any of the 17 Islamic State leaders hiding in Eastern Ghouta, dead or alive. deadalive 9-20-2014

  • 11 fighters from Jabhat al-Nusra were killed by shelling from the Lebanese Armed Forces around Arsal.
    • Yesterday JaN executed Mohammad Maarouf Hammieh, an LAF soldier that they have been holding prisoner.
    • The LAF has reportedly decided to attack JaN around Arsal, and considers its negotiations with the group over.
