    • A large part of the criticism against Obama’s plan is that it exclusively focuses on the IS and so does not call for action against the Syrian government.

  • The Islamic State posted a video titled A Message to the Allies of America showing the beheading of David Haines, a British aid worker.
    • David was kidnapped and handed over to the IS 3 days after he entered Syria, working for The Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development.
    • Here is part of the transcript of the video:
“My name is David Hawthorne Haines. I would like to declare that I hold you, David Cameron, entirely responsible for my execution. You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State, just as you’re predecessor, Tony Blair, did. Following a trend amongst our British Prime Ministers who can’t find the courage to say no to the Americans. Unfortunately, it is we, the British public, that will in the end pay the price for our Parliaments selfish decisions.”
    • The masked man in the video also promised that another British citizen, Alan Henning, will be executed if Cameron continues his support for the fight against the IS.
    • This follows the beheading of 2 American journalists by the IS in retaliation for airstrikes against the group.
    • Here is a link to the video, I can’t directly upload it myself unless I buy that feature from wordpress and I don’t have the money to do that.
      • I don’t believe my posting this is going to act as a recruitment tool or legitimize the execution of hostages by any of the sides in the conflict. However, many outlets and blogs have refused to post it. Twitter is also banning users who post it because it has given priority to complaints against accounts made by the US government. I don’t have a problem with individuals who don’t wish to post the video. I do have a problem with companies taking on the business of censorship at the request of governments. I have posted this video for the same reason that I post videos showing the deaths of other people like soldiers, rebels, children, and adults. The same reason that I posted videos from Douma over the last 2 days that show civilians dead and dying. I do this blog to show what is happening in Syria, and this is what’s happening. I’m also aware that this is a very self-absorbed diatribe to put with a video showing the execution of an aid worker, but I wanted to at least explain why I’ve posted a link to it to anyone who might be upset with me.
