  • Footage of rebels near the Hama Military Airport: 

  • At least 10 airstrikes were conducted around the village of Arza in Hama province. Rebels captured the village yesterday, bringing them closer to the Hama Military Airport.

  • The UN Security Council adopted a resolution which prohibits funding and supplying arms to either Jabhat al-Nusra or the Islamic State.

  • The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that in the last two weeks, the Islamic State has executed 700 members of the Sheitat Tribe in Deir Ez Zor, many of them through beheadings.

  • 8 rebels captured by the Islamic State during the fighting in northern Aleppo were beheaded in Akhtarin, a town which the IS captured a few days ago.
  • Rebels have sent reinforcements to Mare’a and Azaz in Aleppo in order to try the Islamic State from capturing them. Both are important rebel strongholds in the region.

  • Rebels in Aleppo, including the Free Syrian Army, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the Islamic Front, have formed a joint command room in order to coordinate their fight against the Islamic State’s offensive.

  • Islamic State fighters were killed by a rebel sniper in fighting around Soran in Aleppo province. 

  • 4 people were killed by airstrikes on the IS-held city of Manbej in Aleppo. 

  • Jabhat al-Akrad, a Kurdish group, said that it has killed 24 Islamic State members in the last 24 hours.

  • The Syrian National Coalition has called for the USA to conduct airstrikes on the Islamic State like they have been doing in Iraq. 

  • At least 27 candidates have nominated themselves to lead the Interim Government. Dr. Ahmed Toumeh, the former Prime Minster of the interim government, was sacked several weeks ago. The deadline for nominations is August 23rd.

  • 1 civilian was killed and around 30 were injured by 12 mortars that hit various parts of Damascus. 

  • The mayor of Tfail, a Lebanese village, said that the Syrian army had ordered residents of the town to evacuate by tomorrow.
    • Tfail is around 35 km from Arsal, the Lebanese town that recently saw fighting between the Lebanese army and Syrian gunmen.
    • The village is home to about 3,000 Lebanese residents and 5,000 Syrian refugees who have recently settled there. There are reports that the Syrian army is planning to storm the town to search for gunmen.

  • A naval mine allegedly dropped as a bomb by the Syrian air force in Latakia province: 

  • The number of people killed by a car bomb outside the al-Taqwa Mosque in the town of Nemer in Daraa province has risen to 25. The bomb killed both rebels and civilians.
    • Rebels have arrested a man and 2 women on charges of setting the bomb.

  • The government shelled the besieged al-Waer neighborhood in Homs again. They broke a months-long ceasefire earlier this week by shelling the neighborhood.

  • 1 person was killed and at least 20 injured by shelling on government-controlled areas of Idlib city. 

  • Rebels firing at government soldiers trapped in a building in MorekIdlib: 

  • 8 people were killed and 20 were injured in Sweida province around the village of Dama as village militiamen fought against rebels and Bedouin fighters.

  • The Islamic State has begun to shift away from Twitter after a week of constant deletions of IS accounts by Twitter, and onto a site called Diaspora.
