Unfortunately since it’s Friday and that is generally a long day for me, this is all I had time to do today


  • An AFP video showing government soldiers in Mleha, which they captured from rebels yesterday: 

  • A TOW missile fired by the Shuhada al-Islam Brigade hits a Regiment 131 tank in Western Ghouta

  • The Islamic State is reportedly grouping its forces in al-Hajar al-Aswad, south of Damascus, in order to prepare for an offensive against rebels in Rif Dimashq. 

  • The Islamic State declared that the man that they executed in the al-Makef Roundabout in al-Mayadin on August 6th in Deir Ez Zor, on charges of remotely detonating a car bomb at an IS checkpoint, was actually innocent. They offered his family blood money, but they refused.

  • Sheitat Tribal members in Deir Ez Zor province being executed by the Islamic State: 

  • 4 people, including 2 children, were killed by barrel bombs in the Bab al-Naireb neighborhood of Aleppo. 

  • The Islamic State took the villages of B’edan, Ishaf, and al-Salihiya from rebels in northern Aleppo.
  • Rebels continued to fight the Islamic State around Azaz, after recent IS gains in the area. The government has also been conducting airstrikes on Azaz in conjunction with the fighting.
    • Arhar al-Sham has retreated from the fighting in the area and pulled out of Azaz.

  • The Islamic State captured and executed a rebel in Ekhtrin, Aleppo.

  • The Islamic State began shelling Mare’a, the hometown of Liwa al-Tawheed, in Aleppo province. Mare’a is around 40 km north of Aleppo city. 

  • There are reports that rebes are having to divert forces from their fronts with government forces around Aleppo city in order to go and fight against the Islamic State’s offensive in the north of the province.

  • A car bomb on the al-Taqua Mosque in Tamer, Daraa province, killed at least 22 people, including fighters and civilians.
