  • Jabhat al-Nusra and local groups in rural Latakia met and agreed to establish a Sharia court. A judge was appointed and the court will begin operating soon.

  • Lebanese official said that an agreement has been reached with the gunmen in Arsal to stop fighting in the area and that a 24 hour ceasefire is being observed.. The gunmen are most likely from the Islamic State, but they may also be fighters from Jabhat al-Nusra.
    • 3 captured LAF soldiers will be handed over as the fighters begin to withdraw. The rest of the captured soldiers will be handed over in groups as the withdrawal proceeds. 22 soldiers have been captured during the fighting.
    • There has been no further confirmation that 13 soldiers were executed, so it seems unlikely that that happened, although a mediator is being sent to check on the prisoners.
    • 2 more soldiers were killed today, bringing the LAF causualties to 16 killed and 86 wounded.
    • The Syrian General Revolution claimed that 29 Syrians have been killed and at least 200 wounded in the fighting, by shelling on the nearby refugee camp, and by government snipers posted in the surrounding hills.

  • The IS found 4 weapon caches belonging to JaN hidden in Deir Ez Zor city.

  • IS fighters were killed by an airstrike on the al-Zer village in Deir Ez Zor.

  • The 24 hour deadline that the IS gave to civilians to evacuate Sheitat villages in Deir Ez Zor expired. There is likely to be a strong push by the IS now to retake the villages the tribes have expelled it from over the last week.

  • 64 people were killed in all by government airstrikes on Douma and Kafr Batna in Eastern Ghouta over the weekend.
    • 38 people were killed in Kafr Batna, and 26 people were killed in Douma.

  • Ajnad al-Islam claimed that they hit the Presidential Palace in the Maliki district of Damascus with a Katyosha rocket.

  • YPG convoy attempted to enter the Ghweran neighborhood of al-Hasakah city to arrest Sunni gunmen, but was fired at from the al-Beiruti Bridge in the northern entrance to the neighborhood.

  • A third meeting was held in the al-Mofti neighborhood of al-Hasakah to establish a governing council in the city.
    • It was agreed to let al-Asayesh (Kurdish Internal Security) forces and the NDF to settle tribal and security issues.

  • A TOW missile strike in the al-Rashideen neighborhood of Aleppo by Nour al-Deen al-Zinki

  • Rebels attacked the al-Nairab Military Airport in north Aleppo, destroying a helicopter.

  • Several groups voiced their support today for Riyad al-Assad’s call to restructure the FSA. He was the former head of the FSA.

  • Chemical weapons experts from the UN and Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will travel to Syria next month to follow up on the destruction of Syria’s stockpile. So far about 60% of the declared stockpile has been neutralized.
