  • The ISIL recaptured the village of al-Namliyah from Jahbat al-Nusra and Islamic battalions in Deir Ez Zor. 7 ISIL fighters were killed and several were captured. 1 Islamic fighter was killed.

  • In  south-western Deir Ez Zor city there was fighting around the perimeter of the al-Karata oil station between the ISIL and Jahbat al-Nusra and Islamic battalions. Rebels managed to recapture the station.
        • 5 Islamic fighters were killed, including the leader of a battalion.

  • The ISIL pushed into the town of Khasham in Deir Ez Zor after 15 fighters were killed in a surprise attack by tribes who have decided to turn against the ISIL. The ISIL is fighting locals from the town, the Al Zubair battalions, and Jahbat al-Nusra.
        • 28 ISIL fighters were killed in all, along with 5 Islamic fighters.

  • The ISIL captured the outskirts of the village of Al Hrayji from Jahbat al-Nusra and Islamic battalions in the eastern Deir Ez Zor countryside.

  • 10 ISIL fighters were killed in an ambush by Jahbat al-Nusra and Islamic battalions in an area located among the villages of Tabeyye, Jazire, and Khasham in Deir Ez Zor. 

  • 13 civilians, including 6 children, were killed in Idlib province by government airstrikes and shelling.

  • A husband, wife, and their 5 children were killed by an airstrike in the town of Tal Ref’at in northern Aleppo province.

  • Last night in al-Hasakah province 2 men were killed when a motorcycle that was going to be used as a car bomb prematurely exploded as they were driving to al-Hasakah city.

  • The number of Kurdish civilians who have been kidnapped by the ISIL has risen to 500, including 150 children.

  • The UN is negotiating a truce between Jahbat al-Nusra, the Islamic Front, and the SAA in the Dar al-Kibira neighborhood of Homs.

  • 2 mortar shells from Syria fell into Turkey, but there were no reports of casualties.

  • There were 2 air raids in ar-Raqqa. The first one targeted the treasury building and the second one targeted the Governate building, both of which are used by the ISIL.
          • The treasury building is used as a Sharia court, and its basement is currently a prison.ar-raqqa 6-8-2014

  • Lakhdar Brahimi, the former UN Envoy, said that he thinks Syria will become another Somalia; a failed state ruled over by warlords since Assad is so determined not to step down from power.

  • 16 people were each given 40 lashes by the ISIL in Maadanar-Raqqa, for smoking.

  • The ISIL arrested Jasem al-Alloush, the president of the Lawyers Union in ar-Raqqa, without giving a reason.

  • The FSA assassinated the emir of the ISIL in eastern Homs.

  • 5 people were killed and an unknown number injured in the village of Tal Sh’ir in northern Aleppo province after 2 barrel bombs hit.

  • Large areas of Daraa province have been left without electricity after unknown gunmen attacked an electrical high tension tower in the northern countryside.

  • 6 men were killed and 2 women injured in the town of Tsil in Daraa province when it was hit by a ground-to-ground missile.

2 missiles and 4 airstrikes hit Mleha, the Damascus suburb that the government has been trying to capture for several months. Rebels repelled the latest attack and captured several previously government-held buildings.

        • Both the government and rebels are devoting significant resources to the battle of Mleha. Mleha is seen as the gateway to eastern Ghouta.
        • The government has adopted a strategy of burning many of the buildings in Mleha in order to try and reduce the casualties that they have suffered in the dense construction of the area.
